Pre and Post Care | Facials

  • Avoid sun exposure since sun damaged skin does not respond as well to treatment.  When you must be in the sun, prepare for a chemical peel by using a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 whenever you go outside, so your skin begins the treatment without residual pigmentation changes from the sun.  We will not perform a peel on sunburned skin.

  • Avoid waxing any area of your face for 48 hours pre & post; this can cause excessive irritation and inflammation.  Do not shave the treated area 48 hours prior to treatment.

  • For approximately FIVE days prior to your treatment delay use of the any prescription and over the counter products that may cause skin sensitivity such as, Retin-A, Retinol, (AHAs), any salicylic acids, and/or glycolic acids (BHAs) but not limited to these products.

Post Care Instructions:

Individual instructions may vary upon skin type & facial received.  For best results and to reduce the risk of complications it is recommended that you take the following into consideration prior to your treatment.

Inform us right away if you experience prolonged discomfort, we can provide skin calming products for you to use at home.

  • Do not pick or scratch skin. Even though your skin may feel itchy after some treatments, it is important to resist the urge to rub or scratch the affected skin.  Over touching the treated area may cause complications such as infection and hyper-pigmentation.  If you received a chemical peel, your skin may began to flake and peel, a cold compress may help relieve any post peel discomfort.  An aftercare kit will be sent home with instructions for use.  Post peeled skin may feel as if you have a sunburn, but continued burning is not normal.  Please contact us immediately with any concerns or questions.

  • Moisturize. It is important to keep your face moisturized after a facial, dry skin is more vulnerable to cracks and possible scarring.  Make sure to apply cream or lotion diligently in the days and weeks following your treatment or until your skin has completely healed.  Your esthetician will instruct you on the recommended moisturizer for your individual skin type and peel performed. Moisturizing is very important after any exfoliating treatment regardless if its manual or chemical.  Stay diligent to hydrating in order to avoid possible "scratch marks" or "dry scabby" skin.

  • Sun protection.  Shielding your skin from the sun is critical following all types of facial treatments.  It is best to avoid sun completely in the first 24 hours and moderately for 7-14 days after a facial unless you are wearing sunscreen. Continue to wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to minimize the formation of new lines, wrinkles, and hyper and hypopigmentation.

  • Stay Cool.  No heat treatments permitted for 48 hours after treatment; i.e. steam rooms, hot tub, hot showers, waxing, strenuous exercise that could cause your face to heat up and sweat, which could cause an irritation.

  • For approximately SEVEN days following your treatment delay use of any prescription and over the counter products that may cause skin sensitivity such as, Retin-A, Retinol, (AHAs), any salicylic acids, and/or glycolic acids (BHAs), or scrubs but not limited to these products.

  • Do not shave the treated area for 48 hours post-treatment.
